About
Our Business Development (BD) team is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Proposal Development Specialist to lead the development of compelling, engaging proposals and marketing materials that support the firm’s business development efforts.

This position combines writing, editing, graphic design, and project coordination skills to develop persuasive proposal narratives that communicate the firm’s design philosophy, technical expertise, and competitive strengths. Working closely with Partners, Directors, Project Teams, and the Marketing & Business Development team across all offices, the Proposal Development Specialist will manage the proposal development process from kickoff through final submission, producing high-quality proposal documents, interview presentations, and pursuit materials for the firm’s architecture, landscape architecture, interiors, and master planning services.

This position will work primarily with the New York, NY office while supporting business development efforts across all MARVEL offices.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Development

  • Write, edit, and develop proposal narratives, executive summaries, project approaches, cover letters, resumes, and other pursuit materials.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to translate design concepts into clear, persuasive content.
  • Tailor proposal messaging to align with client goals, evaluation criteria, and pursuit strategy.
  • Review content for clarity, consistency, grammar, and quality.
  • Conduct client and project research to strengthen proposal content.
  • Analyze and assemble team fees for required proposals

Proposal Production & Coordination

  • Produce and format long-form proposal documents (typically 100–200+ pages) for RFP/RFQ submissions
  • Compile and coordinate content from multiple internal teams into a cohesive and well-organized document
  • Maintain document standards, including templates, stylesheets, formatting, and brand consistency
  • Manage deadlines, version control, and final deliverables

Procurement & Submission Support

  • Attend procurement meetings and track submission requirements
  • Collect and organize required documentation for proposal submissions
  • Coordinate printing, packaging, and delivery of final proposals as required

Presentation & Pursuit Support

  • Develop presentation materials for interviews and client meetings using PowerPoint or InDesign
  • Create custom graphics, diagrams, and layouts to clearly communicate project information
  • Conduct client and project research and prepare concise written summaries for internal use

Data & Knowledge Management

  • Support the development and maintenance of the firm’s proposal and project database
  • Collect, organize, and archive materials for current pursuits and completed projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Communication Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, graphic design, proposal production, marketing, communications, or a related role.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and InCopy
  • Strong understanding of document production, typography, and layout systems
  • Experience with print production and preflight processes
  • Ability to visually communicate complex information clearly and effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
