Ernesto Vázquez, AIA

Ernesto Vazquez is a dynamic architect with experience in economic strategic framework development projects, as well as large scale urban and architectural projects. With a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico, and which was complemented with undergraduate studies in Spain and graduate certification on historic patrimonial studies in France, Vazquez
has merged all these experiences to develop a strong and holistic approach that fuse planning, urban, and architectural design with the community and the environment.

Vazquez has contributed to Marvel San Juan branch office as a Project Leader designer for various projects, including a large-scale project in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY. The full affordable housing project with over 2,000 residential units, integrates public amenities and plazas along with commercial spaces, to revitalize the social and urban interactions for its users. Ernesto also serves as the Project Manager of Resilient and Green “Territorio Sagrado” for the SAGRADO University Master Plan. The project was conceptualized to transcends the University’s traditional frontiers and reaches out to the surrounding communities in SANTURCE to deploy an archipelago of programming buildings into the city. It also considers a pedestrian-oriented campus to promote a porous and urban campus. In a unique opportunity, Mr. Vazquez led efforts as the Leader Designer to work along with the Fundacion del Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, biggest financial institution island wide, to develop the Puerto Rico Center for Arts & Technology, a first time ever in PR post-secondary vocational institution modeled after the Manchester Bidwell Education Model. The project includes the historical rehabilitation of the Escuela Graduada Segundo Ruiz Belvis located in Santurce, Puerto Rico; a 2-story National Register of Historic Places building designed by the well-known Puerto Rican architect, Arch. Carlos Del Valle Zeno.
