Sami Sikanas, PLA
Landscape Architect
With a background in environmental science and urban studies, Sami views landscape architecture as the perfect balance of natural and social systems, capable of fostering community development through sustainable and beautiful design. After completing her MLA degree from the University of Michigan, she established her landscape career in New York City. Starting at Future Green Studio, then W Architecture and Landscape, she currently contributes her expertise at Marvel. Sami has been instrumental in various urban landscape projects around NYC, including parks, plazas, and waterfronts. She also curates the Queer Landscapes platform, investigating the relationship between identity and design. Sami’s work is characterized by her dedication to creating landscapes that promote both equity and well-being, while also honoring history and context. Her formal education and hands-on experience equip her with a unique perspective to steer landscape architecture towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
