Celebrating Hunter’s New Student Spaces
NEW YORK, NY – This month we celebrated not one, not two, but three new spaces at Hunter College's newly renovated second floor of the Leon and Toby Cooperman Library-- the Jennifer J. Raab Career Center, the Klara and Larry Silverstein Educational Technology Commons, and the Shirley Raps Manhattan Hunter College High School Lounge.
This programming was developed after multiple listening sessions with CUNY and Hunter leadership and facilities teams, discussions with relevant faculty and staff, campus site visits, conversations with consultants, and research of equivalent programs in other locations. These efforts resulted in a state-of-the-art facility designed to help students tackle contemporary initiatives while still providing ample space for dedicated focus time.
Alexis Eggleton, Vice President at Institutional Advancement and President at Hunter College Foundation, reflected on the event, commenting, "The Leon and Toby Cooperman Library, Jennifer J. Raab Career Center, Klara and Larry Silverstein Educational Technology Commons, and Shirley Raps Manhattan Hunter College High School Lounge will give generations of Hunter students new places to learn, connect, collaborate, access resources, and discover what they are capable of becoming. The celebration was made especially meaningful by the students, alumni, faculty, and friends who shared what Hunter means to them. We’re so glad to have marked this milestone together."
