Cynthia is an Associate at Marvel with over 15 years of experience in architecture, planning, and urban design. She completed her Bachelor of Architecture at Syracuse University in 2007, and obtained a Master in City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. Prior to joining Marvel, she worked as an Urban Designer for various city government organizations
contributing to various comprehensive and community planning processes across key neighborhoods in Philadelphia, PA and Boston, MA. These experiences shaped her belief that meaningful community engagement is key to design equitable spaces that help communities thrive. Since joining Marvel in 2021, she has collaborated in the conceptual design of a waterfront revitalization
project in New York and led the viability study for the implementation of Complete Streets concepts in the Puerto Nuevo neighborhood of Vega Baja, PR. Most recently, she worked on developing master plans for various academic institutions in Puerto Rico and currently leads a multidisciplinary team tasked with the rehabilitation of the Vieques Public School and Public Square. The project seeks to adapt a historic school building into a center for social and community transformation by incorporating a new public market to the existing program. The Plaza improvements seek to revitalize and provide resiliency to the town’s main public square following the impact of Hurricanes Irma and María. Her design interests lie at the intersection of the built environment and the public realm, seeking to create vibrant, yet sustainable spaces that connect people and communities together.
