Edna Echandi-Guzmán, a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a partner at Marvel Architects, Landscape Architects, LLP. With over 15 years of experience, she has contributed to significant architecture and urban planning projects across Puerto Rico and New York. Notable achievements include the rehabilitation of El Portal Visitors Center at El Yunque National Forest and the design of First Responders Safe Rooms for Vieques and Culebra—self-sustaining shelters that serve as emergency hubs during severe weather.
Edna has also led projects across the U.S., such as the 25-story Arlo Midtown Hotel in Manhattan and the Houlton, Maine Land Port of Entry. Her work extends to master planning for institutions like Sagrado Corazón University, the University of Puerto Rico’s Bayamón campus, and Robinson School, along with urban rehabilitation plans for several Puerto Rican municipalities. Additionally, she played a key role in the restoration of the Arsenal de la Marina Española in Old San Juan.
Currently, Edna is focused on projects in hospitality, institutional, residential, and urban planning. She also lends her expertise to non-profit organizations like PRoTechos, Ciudadanos del Karso, and Mujeres de Islas.
Edna holds a Bachelor and Master’s in Architecture from Tulane University and a second Master’s from Universidad de Navarra. She has served as the Governing Board Secretary for the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico, further cementing her dedication to the profession.
