Ishita Gaur, AICP

Director

Ishita is an Urban Designer and Planner at Marvel, working on urban projects that have a direct impact on our communities. Her work includes developing vision plans, master plans, and conceptual design and planning studies for a variety of projects, through an inclusive and transparent community/stakeholder engagement process. A key focus for her is to understand social, economic, and cultural conditions of cities and places, and translate their influence on urban interventions.

Ishita was the project manager for the AIA Regional and Urban Design award-winner Snug Harbor Master Plan, as well as the Union Square Vision Plan. She has also led urban design team for Marvel and community engagement efforts for 107th St Pier and Bobby Wagner Walk, Financial District and Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan, Hudson River Park Esplanade, among others. 

Ishita is an active participant in the New York City civic design community and strives to advance equity in our built environment. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens, a member of the Junior Board for the non-profit Social Capital Initiatives, a recipient of Urban Design Forum’s Forefront Fellowship 2018 – Shelter for All, a member of the Emerging Leaders Program with the Beverley Willis Architectural Foundation in 2019, served on UDF’s Local Center Advisory Committee in 2024, named amongst the 40 Under 40 by Building Design + Construction Magazine, and was featured in the book Greatness: Diverse Designers of Architecture. Ishita graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.Arch, followed by an MS in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, and continues to participate as a guest critic at GSAPP, Pratt Institute and NYU.
