Jean Carlos Vega

Architectural Designer

Jean Carlos Vega Díaz is an architectural designer with over 5 years of experience practicing at the intersection of architecture, urbanism and urban planning with a focus on multivariable environmental risk mitigation through built and natural environment strategies. Prior to joining Marvel his diverse experiences working on environmental analysis, architectural and engineering design firms allowed him to integrate his formal architectural design training with grasshopper visual programming, BIM and GIS methodologies to professional
practice. Driven by advancing diversity and inclusion in design, his 2016-2017 tenure of the UPR AIAS Chapter allowed him to serve as a Caribbean representative at the organization’s Global Committee to mentor newly instated Ciudad Juarez and Egypt chapters. As a researcher, he was awarded two consecutive MIT Summer Research Fellowships at the Institute’s Urban Risk Lab where he contributed as a Senior Advisor to the Risk chapter of Keep Safe: A Guide to Resilient Housing Design in Island Communities. Subsequently he contributed with architectural research to post disaster housing prototypes for tropical islands as part of the FEMA Shelter for Emergency and Expansion Design (SEED). Jean Carlos received his master’s degree in Architecture and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design, Magna Cum Laude from the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico with studies in Art History from the Faculty of Humanities.
