JS Yong, AIA, LEED AP

J.S is passionate about the quality of the built environment and has over 15 years experience working both in architecture as well as construction roles. He has been involved from start to finish in a wide range of complex projects at varying scales and budgets. He brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented problem solving approach to all his projects. JS believes that architects should play a key role in addressing climate change in the buildings that we design and advocates for a holistic sustainable design in all projects he is involved in. At Marvel, JS was the Project Architect for Pierhouse and 1Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, a sprawling 620,000sf waterfront hotel and residential project design to seamlessly integrate with adjacent Brooklyn Bridge Park, which was awarded an AIA National award for Housing in 2019. Most recently, JS is leading the design and construction of the 52000sf Northeast Bronx YMCA located in the Edenwald neighborhood in the Bronx, a project targeting LEED v4 Gold. His past experience at Grimshaw Architects bincludes the design of the Croton water treatment plant above grade structures, a multi-billion dollar civic infrastructure project where he worked in close collaboration with city agencies such as the DEP and DDC. His love for construction has also brought him into the GC world, where at Procida Construction he was the project manager for the $25million Park West Apartments in the Bronx, a 7 story affordable housing complex, and 424 Melrose, a 24 unit Passive House certified HPD development in Brooklyn.
