Luba Valkova, RA

Architect

Luba is an architect with expertise including adaptive reuse and renovation, mixed-use residential, public and master plan projects. Luba is interested in how design can shape people’s relationship to each other and to the environment, and approaches the experiential and the engineered aspects of a building as one cohesive system. She recently led NYCHA Integrated Design, a multidisciplinary effort to develop the NYCHA Decarbonization Tool for optimizing retrofit strategies, balancing energy efficiency, occupant comfort, embodied carbon, and feasibility. She enjoys the challenge of complex problems and seeks to offer nuanced solutions. Her latest focus is the design of a LEED gold ground-up building serving the Brownsville Youth Empowerment Center and Community Hub. At Marvel, she serves on the Sustainability Group, working to better integrate and track sustainable design practices across the firm.
