Mónica L. Cruz Declet
Architectural Designer
Mónica Leonor Cruz Declet is an architectural designer from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico who is passionate about resilient architecture and urbanism, with experience in designing for vulnerable communities and culturally significant spaces. As part of her training, Mónica was hired as an intern at the architecture and engineering firm Integra Design Group and then worked for two years at SCF Architects as an architectural designer where she participated in disaster recovery design projects. In 2018, during her undergraduate studies, she, along with six other fellow students, had the opportunity to attend the summer program “Planning and Designing with Water”, at the Technical University of Delft (TU Delft) in the Netherlands where she gained an interest in water management and flood mitigation strategies through built design. Mónica completed her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design in 2020 and her Architecture Master’s degree in 2022, both at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Later, she joined the Marvel team in September of 2022 where she is committed to a resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven design.
