Playwrights Horizons Downtown Theater Renovation
Playwrights Horizons Downtown Theater Renovation
This project is phase 1 of a renovation of Playwrights Horizons’ downtown rehearsal studio space. The third floor layout was reconfigured to allow additional egress, and acoustical isolation between all rehearsal rooms. Each space has been upgraded with finishes and lighting in addition to substantial mechanical and acoustical work, including acoustical floor details. The updated mechanical system required units on the roof and steel supports spanning between existing dunnage. All spaces have updated finishes and fixtures, including new restrooms. The design transforms the space using light, texture, and mass.
