Makenzie Pfeifer, RA
Architect
Makenzie’s wide-ranging skillset spans across architectural design, preservation, adaptive reuse, prototyping and fabrication. She is engaged in all phases of design and construction and has
coordinated large teams of consultants.
Makenzie seeks to leverage the unique characteristics of existing and landmarked buildings while balancing new, contemporary interventions that allow buildings to grow and evolve over time. She is experienced in developing concept plan layouts with complex program adjacencies, assessing code compliance and necessary upgrades for accessibility and energy compliance and leading design presentations with qualitative discussions.
At Marvel, these skills have most recently been utilized in the service of the Lexington Avenue Armory, 32 Avenue of the Americas and the Knickerbocker Club. At the landmarked Knickerbocker Club she is currently leading an effort to introduce new, expanded vertical circulation, introduce accessible access and expand building amenity and BOH zones.
She has contributed to multiple initiatives in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and historic preservation work at the Battery Maritime Building, Snug Harbor, Hudson River Drainage Chamber, Lyric Theatre and the Hotel Chelsea.
