Anchoring the base of a new mixed use 36-story tower, this branch includes an extensive book collection across its three floor levels and abundance of open co-working space and reading areas specifically designed for children, young adults and adults. As a 21st century institute, the new library is equipped with the latest technology and wifi throughout. A variety of spaces are provided for patrons including a quiet reading areas, comfortable seating nestled between stacks and a large multipurpose room for lectures and outside community events.
The upper mezzanine area is accessed through a double height open stair that leads to the teens area, equipped with a gaming room and cozy seating.

The new branch features “Something Borrowed, Something New,” a commissioned installation by Brooklyn-based artist Jean Shin the installation, shaped as an upside-down tree, acknowledges the library’s roots in the community and Brooklynites’ generations of shared history with the library and literature.
The ground level contains the business commons areas with meeting rooms for patrons, the adult reading room as well as a reading circle for community lectures and programming.
The upper mezzanine area is accessed through a double height open stair that leads to the teens area, equipped with a gaming room and cozy seating.

In addition to the residential lobby, the Brooklyn Public Library’s New Cadman Plaza branch occupies the ground floor with 26,620 SF of flexible space and a 20 ft ceiling. This library has its own entrance on Cadman Plaza, in dialogue with the civic scale of the federal and state courts and Borough Hall.
