Gowanus Green
Gowanus Green incorporates the community’s visioning principles and responds to the city’s call for a mixed-use extension of the Carroll Gardens neighborhood. It provides affordable housing serving a wide range of incomes and needs, including housing dedicated to the formerly homeless, senior, and extremely low-income New Yorkers.
The design features eight residential buildings, totaling 1 million SF, with a ground floor retail area, an open space on the water front, public parks, a community space and a boathouse.

The development program is brought together by an integrated landscape and a storm water management system of green roofs, a rain garden, and biswales.
With new activity and recreational opportunities, the site will seek to revitalize a space that has long remained polluted and unused.
