1 Java
1 Java, a mixed-use waterfront development in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, designed by Marvel, is set to redefine urban living. With over 800 rental units, 30% of which are affordable housing, and 13,000+ sq. ft. of retail space, it will blend community life with sustainability. Using a geothermal system, the largest of its kind in New York State residential projects, it aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions. This development, part of Lendlease and Aware Super's net zero carbon portfolio, is scheduled for completion by late 2025, aligning with Lendlease's Mission Zero to achieve absolute zero carbon by 2040.
Conceptualized as a resilient community hub, this development aims to forge a seamless connection between the residential area and the waterfront through a plaza and an esplanade.
Embodying Greenpoint's unique history and culture, 1 Java's design encapsulates energy-efficient features and green roofs to deliver a sustainable living experience.
The partners are driven by sustainability, targeting initiatives such as LEED Gold, WEDG Waterfront, Fitwel, and ENERGY STAR Certifications.
The design of 1 Java, executed by Marvel, includes five interconnected buildings on a full city block with the two taller buildings facing the East River.
Scheduled to be completed by late 2025, 1 Java stands as a beacon of urban regeneration and a model for sustainable development.
